ICCU Unit New Build & Fit Out
Project Name: ICCU Unit New Build & Fit Out
Client: Sunderland Royal Hospital
Project Budget: ???
Contract and project management are crucial aspects of any construction project, and this is especially true when it comes to building healthcare facilities such as hospitals. In the case of a recent project undertaken in the North East, the goal was to construct a new 4 storey Intensive Care and Cardiac Unit (ICCU) for a hospital in the region. This project required meticulous planning and attention to detail, as it involved a range of different contractors and sub-contractors, each with their own areas of expertise and responsibilities.
The initial groundwork and substructure of the building were undertaken by Lumsden and Carroll. This involved a range of different tasks, including site preparation, excavation, and the installation of foundations and other key structural elements. This work was carried out to the highest standards, ensuring that the building would be stable and secure for many years to come.
Once the groundwork was complete, the project was handed over to Tream who completed the final construction and fit-out.
One of the key challenges of this project was to ensure that the new ICCU unit was fully integrated with the existing hospital building. This required careful planning and coordination, as well as close collaboration between the different contractors involved. Brookfield was able to successfully manage this process, ensuring that the new building was seamlessly linked to the existing floors and facilities.
Overall, this project was a great success, thanks to the skills and expertise of the various contractors and our project managers. The new ICCU unit will provide essential healthcare services to the people of the North East for many years to come, and is a testament to the importance of effective project management in the construction industry.
